About the Settlement
The religious community of Kfar Tapuach was established
by the Poel Mizrach Movement in the year 1978, the
original founders coming from Bareket , a Yemenite
village near Petach Tikva. During its early years, the
entire settlement was comprised of only nine families who
withstood difficult conditions of bad roads and temporary
dwellings such as tents during frigid winters. Over the
years the settlement slowly added new families, but over
the last decade tremendous growth has taken place. From
80 families in 2003, the settlement has grown to over 200
families and counting. This can be contributed to several
factors which include close proximity to the successful
University in Ariel, and a second generation of children who
grew up in the settlement , got married, and want to stay
(“natural growth”). In addition, the crowded and expensive
conditions within the “green line” has caused young couples
to seek building their lives elsewhere. Today, despite efforts
by the government to limit building in Samaria, the momentum
in Tapuach continues. Dozens of housing units are being
built to accommodate growing demand, a new state of the art
gymnasium was built this past year which serves the entire
region, and the Ministry of Agriculture has allocated 3,000,000
shekels for sidewalks and landscaping.
